Made of Pure Earth
HOW TO USE
Rose is one of those herbs that earns its keep. You can drink it, infuse it, bathe in it, cook with it, or simply leave it somewhere beautiful enough to remind you to slow down.
As a tea
Add 1–2 teaspoons of rose buds to 8–12 ounces of hot water. Cover and steep for 5–10 minutes, then strain.
Drink it on its own or blend it with chamomile, lemon balm, hibiscus, damiana, cinnamon, or cardamom.
As a body oil
Fill a clean, dry jar about halfway with dried rose buds or petals. Cover completely with a carrier oil like jojoba, sweet almond, or olive oil.
Seal the jar and let it infuse for 2–4 weeks in a cool, dark place, shaking gently every few days. Strain well and use as a body oil, massage oil, or base for a balm.
Make sure the rose is fully dried. Fresh petals introduce water, and water is where the tiny chaos goblins live.
As a bath ritual
Add a small handful of rose buds directly to warm bathwater, or place them in a muslin bag for easier cleanup.
Pair with mineral salts, a few drops of rose-infused oil, and ten minutes where nobody is allowed to ask you for anything.
As a facial steam
Add 1–2 tablespoons of rose buds to a bowl of hot water. Let the water cool slightly, then lean over the bowl at a comfortable distance and cover your head loosely with a towel.
Steam for 5–8 minutes, keeping your eyes closed and stopping if the heat feels uncomfortable.
As a botanical honey
Fill a jar about one-third full with dried rose buds, then cover completely with honey.
Let it infuse for 1–2 weeks, stirring occasionally. Strain if desired, or leave the petals in.
Use it in tea, warm milk, yogurt, toast, or desserts.
